I did meet someone very pleasant once on a plane to Cairns. I had a reservation for a double room in a fairly expensive hotel and welcomed the chance to share the cost.
I suspect she may have panicked a bit when the hotel showed us a room with King sized bed I know I did , but I quickly explained that we needed two singles and they moved us to a suitable room. The hotel was an exercise in 's bad taste it was the mid s with a resident "artist" who painted bespoke fish or seascapes to match people's sofas. It was fun to have someone to giggle about that with.
Find a Travel Companion
We did different things during the day and met up for dinner. It was very pleasant for that brief period, but it was also nice to drive back to Cairns on my own by the inland route to catch the plane to my next destination with my temporary travel companion happily staying in Port Douglas. Even that was risky, but neither of us were young, we had exchanged credible information with each other and it was just for a few days. I prefer a companion for the whole trip or at least a good part of it.
Having someone new for just a few short days is a pity or a waste of time to me, I think so. Or more neutrally, what if you and your travelling companion turned out to have very different ideas about how you should travel or where to stay? I enjoyed the short time sharing part of my 5 week trip, but I really like the freedom of solo travel. I go where I want when I want and do what I want. Worldtravel, Are you planning this for and are you male or female? I loved travelling nad have done a lot of solo travelling before.
